Muzak for the Business Phone System Ruined My Favorite Songs

Do you have a favorite song that you enjoy playing to yourself as you work? But then your business phone system started playing Muzak during your calls, and it now sounds like the most depressing song ever. We may just be getting old, but we are convinced that Muzak has ruined our favorite songs.

This post will teach you how to get rid of those over-played melodies forever with a simple Google search, and look at some alternatives to music for the office.

What Is Muzak?  (for those who don't know)
Muzak is a music-only medium that plays in many businesses, airports and hotels. Often played during the lunch hour it is meant to be entertaining, but rarely are the songs as pleasant to listen to as they sound in your head. It can be a relatively easy and inexpensive task to change these background songs, but you have to do it right!
Every time you hear an annoying Muzak tune it can get stuck in your head and make you less productive, so if you don't know how or where you can remove this music from your system, we will show you where to look for tips on how to do so. Some of the popular background Muzak play lists for the workplace include:

How Do I Get Rid of My Favorite Song?  (Cause Muzak Is Ruining It!)
There are a few different methods to get rid of that background music that you're likely not that fond of, our favorite method is through Google. Go to www.google.com and type in "How can I remove Muzak" or something similar into the search bar on the left hand side.  Below we have chosen to search how can I remove the 8 o'clock news muza k.
We are looking primarily at the top search result, and an article titled "Having trouble sleeping? Muzak may be to blame" (that's our favorite way of thinking about Muzak).
By clicking on this link we will be taken to a website called:  www.insomnia-cure-reviews.com/how-to-remove-the-8-oclock-news-muzak.html
You can read about their method for removing the 8 O'clock news on your phone system by using another google search for "removing 8 O'Clock News from your phones". You can read their post here: http://www.insomnia-cure-reviews.com/how-to-remove-the-8-oclock-news-muzak.html
This website gives us a few different options that you can use to get rid of the Muzak.  We are going to be looking at two methods for removing the tunes in this article, but there are many other methods as well, some of which you can find through google searches like this .
Method 1: Google the First Method
Google suggests the first method to try, and the one we are choosing to follow is "Remove 8 O'clock News from your phones" by typing in a google search for remove 8 oclock news from your phones.
The Google Search Link: http://www.insomnia-cure-reviews.com/how-to-remove-the-8-oclock-news-muzak.html
The website we went to before shows us how to download and install a program called "SpinControl" from the website, so here is what you do:
1.) Navigate to  http://www.spincontrol.com/downloads.html and download the version for your operating system.
2.) Once you download the program, install it (usually about 15 - 20 minutes).
3.) Once you have installed the program, log in with your username and password (if necessary).
4a) Click on "Start Download" and wait a few minutes for the program to download.
4b) Once it is downloaded, click on "Start Download" again. You can monitor the progress of downloading by clicking on the icon in lower right corner of your screen. The progress bar at the top should be green and moving forward as shown below:
5.) Once you see that it is all done then click "Close".
6.) Click "OK" to close the program.
7.) Go to your music system and check to see if it is still playing Muzak, or not. If not, then you're done! If so, next you need to find out what is playing Muzak. Your options here include searching online for the song title of the Muzak that is playing, or using a quick search through the phone system by typing in "Muzak" in the search box at often times you can find the song name on your phone menu. In all instances, you should be able to copy the name of the song and search for it on google.
You can see mine above. The music that is playing is called "Jazz Chillout" by "The 8 O'clock News". I searched Google for "Jazz Chillout" and was directed to a page that contained a small portion of the song and allowed me to find out more information about it by clicking on a link at the bottom of the page. This website allowed me to listen to a portion of it and also gave me information about where else I could purchase this song online as an mp3 file or similar.
I currently have this mp3 file on my home computer. I don't recommend that you do the same thing. You can download the song from a website and play it from there, or you can get a hold of one of the "Cloud" services like Xbox Live or Spotify (explained below) and listen to it that way without having to download.
You can also use google for this song as well, and type in "Jazz Chillout 8 O'clock News". You will get similar results to what you did above, though this time you will get other options for downloading an mp3 version of it.
Method 2: Google the Second Method
If you are still having trouble with the music playing on your phone and would like to look at another method for removing it, google searches for remove 8 O'clock News from your phones.

If they say yes, and if this isn't an inconvenience for them, then we hope that  this article has been helpful to you! Please let us know in the comments section below if it has or not.
