I am an author who has also been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and depression for most of my life. I have experienced firsthand just how destructive a negative thought pattern can be. I have also witnessed the destructiveness of NOT having a healthy, positive thought pattern. Conclusion

Overall, I think that the premise of this article is intriguing. While my personal opinion is that the brain has to be trained to have a positive mindset, I think that people are still attracted to self-help books and programs because they want to feel better. It's easy to get caught up in the promise of fixing your problems by reading or listening. But I also believe in critical thinking and making sure people aren't getting taken advantage of. As a result, I would like for people to make an informed decision before subscribing to any self-help program or purchasing the book for myself.
