An Efficient Way To Personal Growth
If you want to change something about your life, start by accepting that it might not be possible or practical. You’ll start with an overwhelming number of options and not know which one will work best. Which path should you take? Where should you start?
That’s why each morning I ask myself one question: What do I want to accomplish today? It sounds simple, but framing your day around a single task gives clarity and focus to what is important in your life right now. You’ll do it once today, but it will last all week. You’ll ask yourself this question every morning until you find the answer to your purpose, the goal you want to reach.
What is your purpose? Your purpose can change over time, but you should make sure it isn’t something that changes without your consent. It should be something that makes sense to you and is in line with what you most want out of life. If your purpose changes without your permission, then you aren’t being true to who you are as an individual, and everyone loses as a result.
With each year I grow a little older and keep learning more about how I want to live my future. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but the more I mature, the clearer my purpose becomes. I know what I want to accomplish with my life and how I want to get there.
What is my purpose? To live a life that is fulfilling and worthwhile. I want to lead a fulfilling life that has deep meaning; to be happy. To be clear, this isn’t an easy goal. This process isn’t as simple as saying “I want to be happy” or even “I want a good life.” You can say those things, but it doesn’t matter unless you have a clear way of reaching your goal.
I have a method to reach my goal of happiness. Each day I think about what my purpose is and hold myself accountable to that one thing. For example, it might be to read or learn some new skill, or do something to better myself physically and mentally.
When I wake up in the morning, I always ask myself “What do I want to accomplish today?” My mind jumps right into thinking about all the things I could do today. It can be overwhelming at times and difficult not to get distracted with what’s going on around me. I try my best not to get sidetracked, but I know that it’s inevitable.
Instead of jumping right into those things, I ask myself: “What do I want to accomplish today?” Take a moment and really think about the goal you want to reach. There is an answer to that question, even if it seems like an enormous task. Even if you can’t imagine what exactly you want to accomplish today or where you are going as a person, there is always a way in your mind that leads you there.
When we start with our own personal growth process we begin with the most individualized and specific goal.
It’s okay not to know the perfect answer or be in a position like I was. You’ll find your answers as you go through this process: your purpose. It might be something simple, such as “I want to read more today,” or it might be to change your life instead of doing things the way you are. It can be any goal you desire at any time.
Even when I didn’t know what I wanted to accomplish today, each day was so worth it because I was learning and growing. When the week came around and one of my resolutions was complete, each subsequent week felt much more fulfilling than the last one. As I got closer to my goals, I was able to break through some of my mental blocks and understand better why I was doing what I wanted to do.
I hope that you can use this method and apply it in your life. No one else can do it for you; no teacher, mentor or friend will give you the answers; it’s only up to yourself. You have to take the first step and become the person who knows exactly what they want out of life, because then the path will show itself. You’ll learn what you need to know and how to reach your goal.
For me, it’s to live a fulfilling life. I want to live a life that is rewarding and worthwhile. I want to be happy, but that doesn’t mean only positive emotions. It means being at peace with the world around me, both internally and externally. If the worst were to happen tomorrow, I would be able to accept it because I didn’t just exist here on Earth. My existence will have meaning in some way.
I hope you find your answer and are able to reach your purpose in life as well as spend time every day trying to achieve it.
