Christmas Spirit: Do You Possess The True Spirit Of Christmas?
The true spirit of Christmas is one of peace, goodwill, cheerfulness and giving. It's the age-old tradition that everyone can agree with. But sometimes we get so caught up in trying to please others that we lose sight of these things.
This blog post will guide you through a troubleshooting process for finding your true spirit and getting back on track to be a part of this well-loved holiday season. From there, you will be ready to spread the cheer and merriment that the Christmas season is all about. And hopefully, you'll be able to have a more successful and joyful holiday season.
What are some of the signs that you no longer possess the true spirit of Christmas?
Apathy: If you find yourself feeling bored or just not into it this year, then it is likely your inner spirit has been taken over. You can get back in charge with a little bit of self-reflection to find out why. It could be anything from health reasons, to family issues or just general burnout from too many expectations at this time of year. Any realistic solution will bring back your true spirit.
Surface-Assimilation: If you can't even remember what it felt like to be happy and have a good time, then there is a possibility that you have lost your Christmas spirit. One of the surefire ways to experience Christmas spirit again is by getting outside and seeing things for what they are. This will help you remember what true happiness feels like.
Conformity: It's easy to accept tradition, but just as easy to do it in a way that makes no sense. If nothing else, excessive thoughtfulness and kindness during this time of year will impress the people around you without any added pressure to conform or take on too much responsibility. Remember that it's not about what you do or buy, but how you approach each person you meet. And do it with a smile.
What are some of the signs that you have lost your Christmas spirit?
Laziness: Perhaps there is a way to rekindle your spirit without much pain and suffering involved, but it starts with the simple recognition that this is possible. Think about why doing the dishes or cleaning up after the dog have gotten to be such a chore this time of year.
Excessive Vacation Mode: Lack of activity and creativity are usually at the core of a lack of spirit. Some people just haven't been paying much attention to the world around them. They've been working hard to keep up with the seemingly endless stream of streaming tasks and chores leading up to this time of year. If you feel like a victim, then you don't have that true Christmas spirit that allows you to appreciate each moment individually and more joyfully as well.
Overkill: Some people get so caught up in trying to be too nice and giving beyond their means, that they deeply regret it later on. Having the true Christmas spirit is about being mindful and aware of others. You can still show them how much you care without going overboard.
What can you do to rekindle your spirit?
DIY: The true spirit of Christmas is present in the moment and not so much about what you give or do but how you choose to show it. Start with small, practical changes that really make a difference. For example, if you haven't been cleaning out the closets lately, then this is an easy way to start being more conscious about all the people and things around you. If a simple gesture like putting up some holly can make someone's day, then what message are you sending?
Be Present: Not everyone is always thinking about Christmas throughout each day of December. But the true spirit of Christmas isn't about the gifts and presents. It's about connecting with others so they can only come back to you, again and again. And the best part is that it doesn't take much time or effort to be present for those around you, especially strangers.
Have A Nice Day: And remember that this is your chance to bring some holiday cheer by showing gratitude this season for all those people around you, who are trying so hard to live up to an unrealistic expectation of what a good life should look like. Being kind and gentle will allow others to give back more than you could ever ask for.
Are there any other things that you've noticed about your spirit? Maybe there is no one thing that stands out, but you still can't shake the feeling that your Christmas spirit is lacking something. That's okay, everyone goes through this before they realize it's actually just a passing phase and they are back to normal again. As a self-proclaimed introvert, I had to find a way to get outside and see what's going on in my world. It can be easy to get caught up in things that you don't even realize are happening until it's too late. By reminding yourself how quickly things can disappear and how little time there is for everything, you will be better prepared to experience the true spirit of Christmas that has been lost in the hustle and bustle of life.
I hope that this post has helped spark something deeper inside of you and inspires you to get out and enjoy yourself more during this season of joy. Until next time. Have a wonderful Christmas season!
