Mind Over Matter: The Power Of Thoughts

Many people would have you believe that thoughts are things, that we can control our thoughts if we practice hard enough. Often times this is true, but sometimes it's the very opposite — a calming thought can lead to new and positive feelings while a worrisome thought can make those stressful feelings even worse. To get the best mental satisfaction possible, take it slow and try not to worry too much about what you think. This exercise will help clear your mind of unwanted thoughts and give you more peace of mind in the process.
We've all at some point in our lives been plagued with intrusive thoughts. Whether it's a song we can't get out of our heads or an embarrassing memory that keeps creeping back up, they're always there and always annoying. However, there are ways to clear your mind and get rid of those thoughts that are plaguing you. By following these steps you can quiet the mind noise and focus on positive things in your life.
What You Need:
• A pen
How To Do It:
1. Draw 4 dots in a row (one large, two small, one small) on a piece of paper, like this:
2. Label the top line "Stressful Thought," the second line "Calming Thought," and the third line "Clear Mind."
3. Next to each line, write down a thought or memory that is stressing you out or making you feel bad about yourself. Underneath them, write down something that will help you relax or clear your mind.
4. For example:
Stressful Thought: I can't find a job.
Calming Thought: All of the animals are out of their cages and this is my only chance to make it to the next level.
Clear Mind: It's not raining outside. I don't have to go out in this weather.
5. Finish by writing one last thought or memory you'd like to think about instead of the ones above on the "Clear Mind" line.
6. Once finished, close your eyes and keep this piece of paper in a place where you'll see it often. When you find yourself constantly thinking about those negative thoughts, read them again and remember that there's always a positive way to look at the situation. Soon enough, your mind will be clear and you'll be able to replace those thoughts with good ones instead.

How To Get Rid Of Negative Thoughts
The word "negative" is a very broad term that can be used to describe any thought that makes you feel bad about yourself. In other words, you can't just allow negative thoughts to run your life because they'll distract you from being able to focus and make good decisions in your life.
