New Age Spirituality –  Morning Has Been All Night Coming  ( Part 2 )

With the popularity of paranormal topics, New Age Spirituality is a topic that is more prevalent in this day and age.  However, many people are unfamiliar with what it is and how it originated. To help you out, here are the first two parts of an article that explain everything about New Age Spirituality.

The popularization of New Age spirituality can be attributed to the spiritual awakenings and epiphanies people experienced in their lives after World War II. As the world was rebuilding from the war, many people began to be more aware of their surroundings and what was happening around them. This inspired a general interest in mystical energy, which was being channeled through various mediums by people such as Edgar Cayce. The New Age movement got its name from the idea of "new agers," those who were looking for a way to live that was more spiritually aware and environmentally conscious.

New Age Spirituality includes a wide array of topics, beliefs, and practices, many of which are interrelated to one another. The core subjects of New Age practices would be psychic development, holistic health and healing, meditation, and spiritual evolution. Other New Age activities include astrology, numerology, and other forms of divination.

New Age Practices are often associated with lifestyle choices that promote awareness and a better understanding of ourselves on a spiritual and physical level. These practices include yoga, meditation, healing and spiritual development. Some people seek out New Age practices as a form of spiritual therapy, others out of curiosity or the need to maintain a balance in the mind.
New Age is sometimes regarded as a movement for spirituality and the occult. However, New Age Spirituality is often associated with beliefs that transcend religion, faith, and even science itself.
In New Age thought, there is a belief in the philosophy of evolution and that all things are connected. The general idea of evolution suggests that the universe is an unstoppable process of becoming and evolving, and that humans are not only part of this process, but it is also happening around us as well. The most popular example of this would be the way in which DNA is changing and evolving. As we evolve mentally and spiritually, our bodies keep evolving as well. This means that everything we do and experience has impact not only on ourselves, but everyone around us. The idea of evolution carries forward in a kind of circularity, in which everything is connected to one conscious being, or "the mind".
New Agers believe that all processes of evolution are connected at a universal level. The New Age movement believes that the human soul is part of the process that all beings are evolving through at this time, and should not be seen as separate from the rest of existence. The idea at the core of New Age spirituality is that we should be aware and conscious of this process.

New Age Spirituality involves a consciousness shift, which is seen as necessary in order to live life in a more enlightened or spiritual way. This shift takes place on three levels: physical, mental and spiritual. Many people begin their practice as just physical, reaching for yoga and other forms of exercise to enhance their physical health. As they continue, they gain a better understanding of how their body works and improve their overall health with this knowledge.

Through yoga, meditation and conscious breathing, a person is able to more deeply understand the way the body works. Most people eventually begin to understand how their emotions and thoughts affect the body, improving their health through this insight as well. Through this, New Agers move towards a state of mind that is more relaxed, aware and mindful. This helps them improve in many other areas of their lives as well.
Many practitioners of New Age Spirituality focus on the spiritual and healing side of their practices. Through a combination of many different practices, New Age spirituality promotes a harmonious mind and body. This is often achieved through the use of meditation to gain a better understanding of ourselves.
New Agers focus on Eastern practices such as Yoga, meditation, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Many people also use meditation in conjunction with other healing practices to promote a state of balance in the body and mind. New Age Spirituality promotes the idea that balance is necessary to evolve on a personal level. It is believed that in order to gain an enlightened mind we must experience both yin and yang, or in other words, knowing how to be relaxed and also knowing how to be active.
New Agers believe that meditation is necessary in order to reach higher levels of consciousness; it helps us achieve a state in which we can see clearly how our mind works and achieve a mind-body balance.

Conclusion of the article

New Agers believe in the philosophy of "evolution" and that all things are connected. The New Age movement believes that our souls are part of this process and should not be seen as separate from the rest of existence. The aim is to be aware and conscious of this process in order to influence it for the better for ourselves and for others, giving us a better understanding of our mind and body as well as a better connection with nature.
