 Personal Development & Happiness Tools: Anger Release

For those who are struggling, or just don't know how to manage their anger appropriately and effectively, here are some personal development tools that help you release your anger in ways that may be more effective than what you're currently doing.

Anger Release Tools:
* Writing List *
List all of the things that you're angry about. This helps you identify the emotions you're feeling, and also helps you see how long it's taking to get over your anger.
Each item on your list should have a number of minutes to get over the emotion. It's OK to be angry at someone or something, but if you stay angry too long it won't help them. It won't help you either.
* Writing Ability *
If you don't like to write, you can draw pictures or diagram your emotions. It's fine as long as it helps you release them quickly and effectively.
* Venting *
When you're angry, let it out! Try going for a walk and talk about whatever it is that made you mad. Scream if that feels better! If your anger is more specific, then try practicing the techniques from this article (below).
* Seeking Help *
If your anger is more personal, you can consider talking to a therapist. You don't have to be scared of the process of therapy. It's a helpful tool for grief and anxiety, but it also helps you explore your emotions and learn how to cope with them. Learn more about this here .
* Project Emotion *
Write down what emotion you're feeling, as well as its intensity. Then, share it with someone. This helps you get some perspectives, as well as release your emotion to someone who can help.
* Venting to a Friend *
If you have a friend that you know loves you, tell them how angry you are and why. You can tell them how it makes you feel and how the other person's actions made it worse. Share with them what you need from them. Ask them for help, too.
* Positive Psychology *
If you aren't sure how to manage your anger or want a general happiness and life skill, many people are finding that positive psychology works wonders and is something that anyone can learn and apply immediately to their lives. Here's more information on the topic .
* Listen *
Try finding someone who is calm, collected, and empathetic to talk with. You can try talking with a friend, but if you don't know how, try getting a therapy session.
* Anger Calming Activities *
If your anger is overwhelming, focus on the good things in your life. Focus on the positive to get yourself out of feeling overwhelmed. It's OK to just be angry at something. It's normal and it happens to everyone sometimes. But be sure that you're taking care of yourself so that you don't lose perspective and become dangerously unbalanced.
* Find Something Else to Think About *
If you can redirect your thoughts to something else, then do it. Try finding another thing to focus on that's not anger. Keep your mind busy on other things and you'll find that your anger subsides more quickly.
* Use Your Body *
Focus on what your body is feeling and use the physical tension to release your emotions. It works great.
* Focus on the Positive *
This one is tricky, because it means trying to feel good about negative situations as you're struggling with them. But in some instances, it is possible. If there's something that you want to change in your life, then focus on the positive things in it: maybe the person who made you angry can be replaced with someone else who has the same qualities that you desire.
If so, then try finding a positive way to see them or change how they make you feel.
* Focus on the Good *
If you're angry at someone or something, think of all the good things that they've done. Think of the times they made you smile or laugh. Think of the things they've given to you. Now think about what it is that would make you want to be angry at them again.
This helps you realize that your anger isn't about them, it's about how you're feeling about them. But by focusing on all the good things in their presence, your negative emotions subside.
* Focus on the Future *
It's hard to be happy when you're angry. But by focusing on how that anger affects how you see the future, you'll realize that it's a foolish emotion to be experiencing and something that you want to change it.
* Focus on Affection *
Feeling angry tends to make us want to pull away and not deal with people at all.

Conclusion
We hope that these anger release tools help you find a way to become happier and not let your emotions control your life. You deserve to be happy, because this is your life and you plan what you do with it!
