 Personality Test- Your Time Management

If you're a procrastinator, a perfectionist, or simply are not sure which Myers-Briggs personality type you are, this is the blog post for you. We'll be discussing how to take the Myers-Briggs test and then what does that mean for your time management and how to manage it better.
There are many types of Myers Briggs personality test. Each one is slightly different and is based off of a theory that originated in Jungian psychology.
Jung's theory was that we are all made up of four different parts. Each part is a function of the conscious, unconscious, and the traits that are 'in between'. But these four parts must work in harmony with each other. They must all agree with each other and stay balanced with their own components within themselves. Psychologists believe that everyone has an unconscious nature. At least, some form of this unconsciousness is present in everyone. Most everyone is unaware of their unconsciousness though as it's generally thought to be controlled by the conscious mind. We're always consciously aware of our conscious and our unconscious nature. But we don't generally have control over the 'in-betweens' that are Jung's function. These 'in-between' functions are represented by the different kinds of personalities.
There are four different types of Myers Briggs personality test: Enneagram, Keirsey, Socionics, and MBTI. Before we get into those though let's discuss how the Myers Briggs personality test works and what it means for your time management.
The Myers-Briggs personality test is a self-reported questionnaire that determines which one of sixteen personality types a person has. You'll be asked to answer questions pertaining to four different areas of personality:
1) Extraversion vs. Introversion
2) Sensing vs Intuition
3) Thinking vs Feeling
4) Judging vs Perceiving
The results of your answers will give you one of four letters in each category. The letters will indicate the type of personality that you are most likely to be. If the test indicates that you are an INTJ or ENTJ, then you are one of these types. But if you're ISTJ or ESTJ, then you are not. The most efficient way to determine your MBTI type is to ask yourself a series of questions and see which ones align with your answers. Then complete the test for yourself and see what type it says you're most likely to be.
It's important to keep in mind that there is no concrete science backing up this test. Many of these letters are vague and don't stand for a precise or precise description of what kind of personality you have. It's actually very likely that you don't fit the type that you were given. There is just a general likelihood and the best way to figure out what type you are, ask yourself which questions on the test describe who you are and then let your mind fill in the rest.
The main thing that you should be able to take away from this is a general "congruence" of your personality. For example, I am an ENFJ. This makes sense because most of the questions on the test that I answered were in alignment with my personality. There were a few questions, however, where I answered how I would prefer to act rather than how I actually do act. It was important for me to think about these answers in order to get a better idea of my own personality and what type it is.
The Myers-Briggs Personality Test is not about being "right" or "wrong". It's about knowing yourself and understanding what it is that you are. If you're a perfectionist who doesn't like to be in charge, then by all means, take the test. The most important thing here is that when you take the test, realize that it's simply information about what kind of personality you have, not what kind of personality you are. Even if you are an ENTJ, this doesn't mean that you will always act like an ENTJ. It simply means that your personality has some characteristics that are associated with the ENTJ type. It's all about recognizing who you really are and knowing how to manage your best self.
After taking the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, the next thing to do is figure out what it means for your time management. The Myers-Briggs test was designed with this purpose in mind. When figuring out how to manage your time, it's important to understand something about your personality type.
As we discussed earlier, there are four different types of Myers Briggs personality test. Each one is based off of a theory in Jungian psychology that describes a different component of our personality. The theory that most closely describes what Myers-Briggs personality tests are trying to determine is known as the "Collective Conscious".

Conclusion

The Myers-Briggs personality test and MBTI are not absolute. They're more about understanding where your personality falls in between each of these types and understanding how you best manage your time. The Myers-Briggs test and MBTI are tools that can help you determine how you best manage the things in your life. It's important to recognize when using a tool like this, that the tool is only a way to help yourself understand who you are and what you should do with those traits.
