There is no shame in giving into temptation, but it might mean more than just a few short-term benefits for your soul. You may realize the ill effects later on in your life and suffer pessimism as a result; this is why you must always strive for self-improvement.

Loving God is just as important because you must know that you're loved unconditionally before you can truly love someone else the same way and vice versa. It's their choice and no one else's; it's only their own free will that determines the outcome of their life or death.
