Going Paperless
Wondering how to go paperless? It may seem daunting, but we've got the step-by-step guide for you. Simply follow these steps and you'll have a paperless lifestyle in no time:
1. Figure out your priorities and get organized.
2. Sort your files so that they're in date order and make sure they're fulfilling their original purpose.
3. Scan or photocopy your documents so that you don't throw them away by accident.
4. Throw away the paper copies of old files once you're done with them — don't save any!
5. Sort your digital files into folders on dropbox, google drive, iCloud, etc...
6. Create automatic reminders for yourself.
7. When you're finished with a document or piece of paper, file it away in its original folder or bin
8. Set up a google alert for your files, so that you can find them later
9. Use filters on your computer so that when something appears on your screen, you will know that it's an email or document of some sort and not just random files from previous years
10. If you're writing or taking photos, always take screen shots or take pictures of the screen instead of originals if something is precious
11. Don't save old email attachments or notes as you'll soon forget where they come from and why you saved them in the first place
12. If you use a cloud storage service, make sure they have an easy way to delete files without having to dig through a long list of saved files on your computer
13. Don't create any new folders in your computer or dropbox folders unless it's really really necessary
14. If you get an email with attachments, open it immediately and if it's important, log into whatever system the attachment is coming from so that you can confirm that everything is okay and nothing is missing/corrupt
15.
