What is slowing your PC?
When you start up your computer, you expect it to work smoothly. Or at the very least, not to hang and make a loud noise while it's booting up. Unfortunately these days, many computers are plagued by issues of processing speed. If this happens it can be incredibly frustrating as every clicking action can take a minute or more! Let's talk about what could be causing such slow performance in more detail below:

Hang on...what type of computer are you going to buy?
Many people make the assumption that a computer is only as fast as its processor and on many occasions this needs to be true. However there are reasons why a system might not perform at full speed which I will cover below.

The Processor(s)
Your processor(s) can make or break performance in your PC. If it's not fast enough then your PC will run very slowly and in some instances it might even crash or freeze when attempting certain tasks. The processors that are found in modern computers range from being super quick and energy efficient like the Intel i3/i5 processors up to being extremely strong and energy efficient such as the AMD FX series processors.

If you have purchased a computer that does not have the right processor for your needs, then it can be an expensive mistake to make. I would always recommend having two reasonably fast processors if you plan to run more than one program at once or use your PC heavily in general.

The Graphics Card(s)
These are also very important to your computers processing power and the speed with which it works. The graphics card or cards that come with a computer depend on its build quality and price point. For example, lower budget computers come with less powerful graphics cards such as embedded Intel chipsets while high end gaming rigs could come with multiple Radeon or Nvidia graphics cards. I would always recommend having more than one if you plan to plug in multiple monitors and expect to play games on your PC for longer than a few minutes.

The RAM
This is the most important thing of all when it comes to slow processing speed. The amount of RAM your computer has can have a major effect on how fast it runs. In fact, you should always look at buying the maximum amount of RAM that your processor was designed to work with.

The Hard Drive storage device(s)
This could be holding programs that are running or existing data regarding ones own files and documents. An overloaded storage device could be the reason why your computer is taking forever to process tasks, so it is always a good idea to regularly clear items out of your 'Recycle Bin' or delete old files you know you won't need in the future.

Regular cleaning up
The most important thing you can do to keep your computer running smoothly is to regularly clean up the clutter that has built up on it over time. Overloaded RAM and hard drive devices will cause more problems in the long run than any other issues that might arise within a PC. Keeping them clean will not only make your system run faster, but longer as well.

Conclusion
As you can see there are a lot of different causes that could be responsible for causing your PC to run slowly. The first thing that I'd recommend doing in order to try and identify the main cause of your system running slow is to take it in for a check up to see if it needs any repairs on its hardware. This could be as simple as taking out the power supply and cleaning the inside of the computer case, but it's best to get a professional opinion on the matter in order to make sure that you are not misleading yourself by just taking things out at random. Any issues that you do find will be fixed free of charge, so there is no harm in taking it in for a professional opinion if your computer is running slow.
