How to Create a Money Magnet E-commerce Web Site
We all have dreams of running a successful e-commerce site, making more money than we know what to do with, and living the life of our dreams. But we need one thing first: traffic. We could spend $1,000s on Facebook ads or Google Adwords to drive traffic to our site but that's expensive and doesn't always work. And so in this post I'm going to show you 10 ways you can create the ultimate money magnet e-commerce web site without breaking the bank.
This article will show you how to create a money magnet e-commerce website by driving tons of relevant traffic (organic traffic) to your site. This is not only what I personally do when I run an e-commerce site, but this is also the process that I teach to my clients for their own stores. It works like crazy and once it's done you can literally sit back and watch the money roll in.
I'm going to be showing you 10 different ways that you can get free targeted traffic from Google (the most important search engine out there) and BING (Microsoft's search engine).
With these 3 powerful search engines, over 90% of all internet users find what they need online using either Google or Bing.
The e-commerce site I'm going to be building in this post will be a "Lazy Man's Niche Site" which means that I don't have to do any keyword research at all and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
(P.S. - I did show you how to find niches with no competition in a recent post of mine....the one and only place where you can find niches like this is on the Warrior Forum.)
If you've never heard of it before, Lazy Man's Niche Site is basically just creating an e-commerce site around your own personal favorite item. So let's get started.
1) The first thing you need is a product that caters to the type of customer that buys your kind of product. If you go to Amazon and search on anything like "coffee", you will see a ton of different sites selling coffee. Not all of them are successful though, in fact most of those sites are either selling instant coffee from the grocery store or craft coffee beans online (which is dead, dead, dead).
2) Now you're going to want to find the types of products that your target market is into. If you want to sell cameras, you will need to go on eBay and search for "cameras". If you want to sell makeup, go on the Makeup Alley and do the same thing. It's important that you find all of these niche sites before Google or Bing ever finds them for you.
3) Next thing you're going to want to do is collect any related keywords that people are trying to find when they type those words into google or bing. You'll only be able to get around 80-90% of what people are actually searching for, but it's a good start.
4) Now that you have all these keywords, you need to use the Google Keyword Tool to figure out how many searches a month are done on each of those keywords. You can see what I mean in the image above where it says "monthly searches" and "competition".
5) After you find out how many people are searching for each keyword per month, it's time to go over to Google and Bing and estimate how many pages are on the first page of results. You'll have to average it out from different keywords but in most cases there will be around 5-10 pages on the first page.
6) To find your competitor's exact ranking, go to this link: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and then enter in the correct keyword in the box.
7) The image below shows how you can see who is ranking on the first page for each of your keywords. 8) Now that you know what your competition is up to, it's time to go over to Open Site Explorer and check their links. Open Site Explorer will show you how many links each of your competitors are getting as well as who is linking back to them (because obviously you want to work with these people). You'll need a Moz Pro account for this but if you don't have one, no worries because they give a free 30 day trial that allows you to use this feature (and many others).
9) To find where your competitors are getting links, just scroll past Page Rank and go down to the Links section. This is where you'll see each of your competitors' domains listed. In the image below, we see that the domain http://shop-lab.com/ is getting links from http://www.thehuntblogger.com/ and http://www.thecelebediariescout.com/. So if you were to sell a lab coat on The Hunt Blogger it would actually be shown on their site instead of yours and vice versa (as you can see in the image below).
10) Now you're ready to build your new money magnet e-commerce site. I created a sample page for you and I'll be showing you how to do each of the steps in this post. Of course, you can use any website that you like, but for the sake of this tutorial I made an e-commerce site with Shopify https://www.shopify.com/ so that your front end would be 100% Shopify + 10% Magento).
If your entire site was built on Shopify, you could also open up a store on Facebook at https://apps.facebook.com/commerce/ and get free social media traffic.
Note: Feel free to use this exact site if you're having problems building your own site. Just download it from here: https://goo.gl/ThvJYm
1) The first thing we need to do is go into Shopify's theme section and click on the Demo link for the "Solo" theme. This is just a demo of the kind of themes that they have available but as you can see, it's clean looking and doesn't look like a typical e-commerce site (and that's what we want).
2) Then click on Sign Up at the top right.
Conclusion:
Now that you're signed up with Shopify, it's time to build your new money making machine site. First thing you need to do is update the theme (on the right side of the screen) and then customize it. Click on "Solo" in the top left corner and click "Change Theme".
3) When you're looking at this page, try not to get overwhelmed with all of the different settings available. You only need a few things changed in here and we'll go over what each one means individually later on.
