However, there are steps we can take to make sure that our memories are not forgotten in a digital data dump. The following are some great ways to preserve your digital photos and videos.
-Use a password-protected locker for your photos: A photo locker is a safe place that allows you to lock away files without anyone else seeing them but you. It’s easy enough to create your own password on Google Drive and Dropbox, or using online storage companies like Box or OneDrive. You should never leave key pictures in these online spaces because they can be hacked at any time.
-Back up your photos: If you have a lot of high quality images that are irreplaceable, you should back up your files to multiple hard drives or cloud storage services. Also, be sure to do this at a minimum of once a month to protect yourself from losing key pictures in the event of a virus or hardware crash.
-Use multiple devices: Never store memories only in one place for the unlikely event that something happens to it. This means storing photos on your computer’s hard drive as well as uploading them to the various cloud service providers.
