4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not Great. Format: Kindle Edition | Verified Purchase This book is well written with easy to understand information however it does not have any photos attached to each step in the training process. Had that been done, it would have been an excellent reference book. I do suggest that you purchase the other two books by Marc Cooper so you can get a full picture of what you are getting yourself into if you decide to take his training program.

3.0 out of 5 stars not a bad book, but definitely not the best Format: Kindle Edition | Verified Purchase I'm going to give this book 3 stars because it was a good read and very informative. There were some parts of the book that were very, very well written, but then there would be a paragraph or section that was just plain confusing. Overall, this is an okay book if you are looking for some information and inspiration about becoming a photographer. If you're really looking for something in-depth like "The Photographer's Eye" or "The Photographer's Workshop: An Introduction to the Visual Arts", this is definitely not it! (Though I do recommend those books over this one too!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for serious photographers Format: Paperback As a photography instructor at a major university, I am always on the lookout for good photography books that can help me teach my students. One of the toughest challenges in my opinion is trying to find an introductory book on photography that is well written and covers all the basics as well as some intermediate topics. "Making Your Photos Look Great" meets all of those criteria. The author has a unique way of using analogies to help teach these basic concepts, especially exposure and composition. He does a nice job describing why you have certain settings on your camera and how they affect your images. The book also covers the many basics of lighting, along with how to light a scene. Marc's writing style and choice of analogies is very professional and keeps the information flowing well. I have told many of my photography colleagues about this book and I highly recommend it for your photographic library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy for photography enthusiasts Format: Paperback | Verified Purchase This book is must buy for any photography enthusiast who is not only looking to improve but to allow themselves to be discouraged when they don't see their photos as they envision them seeing them. This book is also essential for beginners but I would recommend it for anyone who wants to improve their photography skills. It is well written with a good balance of technical information and creative inspiration.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Basic Photography Book Format: Kindle Edition | Verified Purchase This book was an enjoyable read for this beginner in the world of photography. There was some easy to follow technical information that helped me grasp the concepts of photography from a beginner's standpoint, as well as some basic tips and tricks to help me along my way!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have Format: Kindle Edition | Verified Purchase I am very pleased with my purchase of this book.Mr Cooper gives you a step by step guideline on how to take great pictures I will definitely be purchasing his other two books in the future. The subject is very important, but the way he teaches it,it make's it easy to learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely written and practical Format: Kindle Edition | Verified Purchase Very well written, with helpful tips that really work. Great reference book for those starting out with photography. A must have for anyone who wants to improve their photography skills! Would love to see others get a copy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice audio book Format: Audio CD | Verified Purchase I liked the cd so much I bought 2 additional ones. The first cd was on video tape and I enjoyed it so much that I bought another that played on my computer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Focuses on what you can do without a camera Format: Kindle Edition Over all, a classic photography book for beginners in the world of photography, or for those who have know-how in photography but are unsure of where to start. The book offers an abundance of useful information on exposure, subject placement, lighting techniques and basic composition in order to make your photographs stand out from the rest. The author goes a bit more in depth as to what the camera is doing in order to create the photograph, but does not go into details on how to use your camera. This book does give a lot of information on what is possible with some simple techniques and equipment, which I have found to be quite helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful and informative Format: Paperback | Verified Purchase I purchased this paperback book "Making Your Photos Look Great" by Marc Cooper because I am not a professional photographer and want/need some help on getting better photos for my own pleasure and family. This book has been very helpful, easy to understand, no fussing with all the tech stuff like what all the buttons do. Just tells you what to look for in a picture and then shows you how to do it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get better at taking pictures of their family and friends and want something easy, great basics on what you can "see" when taking a good picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars This guy Knows What He's talking about Format: Paperback | Verified Purchase Outstanding book, the style is just perfect for beginners and advanced users alike. The array of different topics are extremely useful for any student or photographer, from beginners fascinated by the surrounding world (especially nature lovers) until the professionals fascinated by all new technical possibilities (I'm talking about stock photography).

Conclusion: this book will give you a lot of knowledge and inspiration, whether you are a beginner or an expert, whether you are into photography for advertising or artistic purposes.

So, if you want to feel like the pros, then this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book Format: Paperback This book has great information and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Photography! Mr. Cooper takes the time to explain why he is doing what he does and how much sense it makes to do so! His analogies are fantastic and have helped me better understand photography techniques! This was an excellent purchase!!
