Pursuing your passions

 Pursuing your passions

I've always enjoyed writing. But it wasn't until a few years ago that I recognized that pursuing my passions was not just a hobby, but also an important part of who I am. In fact, passion is the foundation of any successful life.

An Introduction to Pursuing Your Passions – One Step at a Time
Nobody would deny the immediate gratification that comes from indulging in our passions: we feel boosted with endorphins after exercising or enjoying candy after dinner, for example. The problem is that we become slaves to our passions. We put in the effort required, but we stop before we get what we really want. After enough time has passed, however, we end up wishing for things that were never as satisfying in the first place.
What if instead of waiting for something that gives us a kind of high or feeling of fulfillment to come around at a later time, we can actually pursue and obtain what it is that gives us this feeling now? This essay will discuss why pursuing your passions and living a flourishing life is not about waiting around for the perfect moment. It is about taking action and taking what is already good in your life to the next level.
Using an example from my own experience, I will discuss the need for a step-by-step approach to pursuing our passions. I'll also discuss how we can accomplish this by breaking down our larger passions into smaller goals and then by setting priorities.
Similar to the way that we progress from infancy to childhood, we will eventually progress towards a state of being completely in touch with what we want out of life – and even achieve more than this.
Pursuing your passions is not about doing something that just gives you a temporary high. Rather, it is about being able to enjoy and take pride in your efforts and the results of those efforts. By conquering the steps involved in pursuing our passions, we will be able to move towards what we desire and be able to maintain that way of life for longer.

Pursuing your Passions – Tips and Advice for Beginners
I spend a lot of time before I start a new project, learning as much as I can about the subject. It's easy to get so excited about being in "the zone" that you forget your goals and don't know how they're related. When you're first starting something new it's nice to have some good advice from someone who's already done it!

What makes a good passion?
A great passion should be something you love to do but also has a goal. Most people have a hobby that they enjoy, but it may not have any deeper meaning. For example, if you really liked swimming as a kid in summer camp, that's OK, but is it more than that? If instead you still go swimming every chance you get, and take advanced classes to improve your technique and stroke efficiency; if you set goals to swim in races and even go back to school again to work on your degree so you can teach swimming as an adult – well then it's more than just a hobby. I think if you're passionate about something, you should want it to be more than just a hobby. You should want to understand the logic behind it and the science behind it. This is how you can use your passion to make a difference in the world.
To sum things up, passions are about doing something without knowing why; just trying to enjoy yourself. When we go into our activities with a goal in mind it makes everything much easier and more enjoyable.
