A Chef Does This And That

A Chef Does This And That

Some people say that cooking is an art. But really, it's not just an art. It's also a science! Well, sort of. Cooking is actually more like a game where you have to follow a bunch of rules and know some math while getting creative too. So, what do chefs cook? They cook all the creatures on earth, from lowly crickets to mighty oaks and everything in between!

You can find anything you want on this blog: New recipes are constantly being posted as they are created or discovered; hard-to-find ingredients are sourced; daily cooking wisdom and anecdotes for your enjoyment.

In the past, I've worked as a cook at all kinds of restaurants and other food-related jobs; from fine dining to roadkill restaurants (really). I've been a sous chef, chef de partie , line cook, prep cook, and most recently an executive chef.

I live in the beautiful Silicon Valley area, which has some of the best restaurants on earth! The community here is so vibrant and diverse; Asian, Caribbean, European, Middle Eastern – all these different flavors are represented in our community in such a small area. We also have more Spanish language newspapers than anywhere else in America! So I am lucky enough to get exposed to many different culinary ideas and influences here.

I was born and raised in the Bay area, but I'm a true California kid. I grew up surfing and playing in the ocean, living my life in harmony with nature (not hippie, I just love nature).

My goal is to help you enjoy cooking as much as possible! That doesn't necessarily mean it will be super easy or quick. The best meals are often the ones that you put your heart into; where you take time to savor each bite and sit down to enjoy company with friends and family around a table filled with food. You know what they say – get someone else to do the dishes!

"How do I start?" is probably the question most people have when they want to cook. There are so many books and websites out there that it's not all that easy to find the information you need in one place.

I hope this blog will help answer some of your questions, but I'm sure there are many more! Feel free to write me at chef@chefkrebscooks.com if you have a question or comment. You can also find me on Twitter at @chefkrebscooks.

Cheers!

Conclusion: Lemon Pepper Prawns are a delicious and fresh dish that is sure to please everyone. These tasty morsels will be a hit for your next party, picnic, or family gathering.

My husband was the only person in the world who liked prawns growing up (which is why I made him do all the cooking while I sat back and took it all in). Apparently back then they were really popular in his native country of Iran.

I made some changes though… I added some shrimp paste and curry powder to give them a little more flavor, and I substituted chopped asparagus for the original recipe's vegetable. Everything else stayed the same! They were delicious and certainly something new.
