A Cure For Depression And Anxiety

A good attitude is empowering. It provides us with hope, and it opens up possibilities for change in our lives. A positive outlook is a powerful thing that can help us take control of our circumstances and successfully overcome any obstacles we might be facing. A positive attitude is not unrealistic or unattainable; it's something that anyone can work on and cultivate as long as they put their mind to it. Is your mind ready? We're going to have some fun!

This article will teach you how to maintain a mindset which fosters success in all areas of your life.

Formal Education Does Not Always Lead To Success

If you're going to college now or have been in the past, you may have heard that a degree is essential for securing a good paying job and doing well in your chosen field. That degree is your ticket to success, right?

Guess what? The reality might be that "being smart" doesn't always lead to a successful career. Many people who've graduated with advanced degrees are not finding success. Not because of something wrong with them, but because their degree does not equate to a particular skill set needed to get ahead in the working world.

When I was in college, I majored in physical therapy. My career goal was to work for a big city hospital where I could get on-the-job experience and learn all the skills necessary to be successful as a physical therapist.

Prior to graduation from college, I began working part-time at my local hospital. It wasn't long before the basics of what it meant to be a competent PT were hammered into me: anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. In addition, I worked on learning how to make diagnosis and prognosis of patients by looking at history and physical exam findings.

I graduated from college with a degree in physical therapy but never had a job as a physical therapist. To understand why, let me tell you a little bit about how the health care industry works.

Hospital positions are extremely competitive and highly sought after. To get one, you have to show the hospital that you are an outstanding candidate who is capable of performing at a high level. And what's the best way to do that? By making sure your resume is filled with lots of big words – degrees, certifications and work experience.

When I graduated from PT school, I had my degree. Unfortunately, it was a degree in physical therapy and not occupational therapy or nursing. Even though I was working as a PT part-time, I still didn't have enough on my resume to impress the hospital. The fact that I had some experience in an industry other than physical therapy failed to make any real difference.

As it turned out, I did enjoy working as a PT, but my experience was very limited. Had I been willing to put in the effort and determination needed to earn a complete certification, I could've continued with that job and had a successful career. But it never occurred to me. After all, looking for work as a physical therapist was the goal at the time, so getting additional experience wasn't on my mind.

It would've been great if I'd had a crystal ball when I was in high school and could have looked forward to college and beyond. If that had been the case, I could've chosen a career path for myself that would lead on to better things. And even though my college education didn't pan out as planned, it was still a worthwhile investment.

Remember this: You need to determine what you want from your future career or business before you go to school and commit yourself to years of study. The actual learning process will be much more rewarding if you're studying something that interests you and which has meaning in your life.

The more I learn about success, the more I realize the importance of planning. You should spend time considering your options so that you can design a path to success that suits you.

The Secret To Success Is Not Hard Work, But Persistence

Do you think that if you work hard enough and long enough at pursuing your goal, you will eventually achieve it? You might've heard this before: "I kept plugging away at it and eventually achieved my goal." If true, would that make hard work one of the secrets to success?

Unfortunately, no. Because sometimes being persistent doesn't lead to a successful outcome. Suppose you want to become a professional writer. You might be thinking that as long as you continue to write, it will eventually lead to success.

Let's say you're hardworking and write every day, every week and every month for five years. You've gone one year and ten months longer than Ernest Hemingway, who said that he went one year without writing before breaking his dry spell with The Sun Also Rises. Do you think this means your efforts will eventually be rewarded?

And what if you have talent and just need more experience? Research suggests that some writers need 10,000 hours of practice before reaching the top of their game.
