Motivation: Do Something About It Today!

In the past few months, I have come across many articles on motivation, yet every single article I read is about contributing to society. Let me be clear: in order for a person to be motivated enough to help others, they must first feel wanted and needed by society. When society doesn't need us and someone else sees that as their responsibility, it's incredibly difficult for them to keep motivated. That's why I want to stay motivated: for my own sake, but also for the sake of society.

So why am I posting my own article? I am motivated because there's still a lot of people out there who will not be motivated by their friends or family. After all, they have never been in a situation where they have needed help and have been stuck in a corner because nobody helped them out. When that happens to you, you are left with one choice: you must get up and do something about it.

I'm not saying that post-hardcore bands don't contribute to society. They may not contribute in the way of writing a song and sending it to a label, but they certainly contribute in the way of being there for someone who needs them AND in the way of spreading their music. The most important thing is that they are there.

As a hardcore band, we are here to motivate the people who need it. To inspire others with our song writing, lyrics, and attitude. We want to motivate those who have lost interest in life and society. I want to spread their message: that they are not alone. That someone understands them, even if they never meet the person who writes their favorite songs or poems. That someone cares about them, even if they don't necessarily care about themselves.

This is why I am motivated – to keep society going and to remind everyone that I care about them. Sure, I'm not the only person in the world who does this; we are a small band, yet we motivate a lot of people. But that's not the point. I want to be an inspiration: I want to keep society going, by keeping myself motivated and inspired.

There is a reason why we do what we do in post-hardcore bands: we care about each other. We are a community of people who care about themselves, their friends, and their influences. We are the underdogs of music industry; the people who don't fit on the mainstream scene...we are different, and that's why we are motivated.

We are here to motivate people and remind them that they matter. They matter because they have music in their lives, because they have a passion for something bigger than themselves. There is a reason why we do what we do – it may not sound as good as other genres, but there's more depth to it than most people realize. We're not here to make money or climb the music ranks – we're here to motivate each other and the people around us.

To conclude, I want to make one crucial point: we don't care about mainstream. We are post-hardcore – we do what we do because we need to. We don't care about the "industry", because the industry may or may not want us – but they can't make us stop. They can't make us think less of ourselves, nor can they stop us from being motivated to help others. There comes a point in your life where you need to realize that you matter just as much as any other person, because you are just as human.

You might not be into hardcore, but music is still an important part of your life – so why not make it count? Why not write your own lyrics and send them out into the world? You just might get the chance to motivate someone else...

...and that's what it's all about.

Finish what you start. Make something of yourself. Don't let anyone or anything stop you – no matter how many people say "no". We can't just be a hardcore band – we need to motivate others. I want to inspire myself and others, by writing this article and sending it out into the world. I want to motivate people to help themselves, because they need our help.

If you're reading this article and are motivated – continue what you do, because it's meaningful. It's never too late: motivation is something that can be sustained at all times...even when you're at your lowest.

If you're not feeling motivated, then it's time to get motivated – because without motivation, what's the point? You can't contribute to society and help others, you can't spread your beloved music or art...you can't do anything.

So why not sit down and start writing now? Think of all the things that motivate you; think of all the things that stop you from being motivated.

Conclusion: Motivation doesn't always have to come from social causes; sometimes it can be self-motivation.

If you aren't motivated, and you need help, there's only one choice: get up and do something about it (which is quite ironic, considering that's all the title means!).

But why not do more than just get up? Why not DO SOMETHING about it today?

With the help of your friends and family, try to motivate yourself.
