Q: What is the difference between an awakened person and a spiritual person?
A: An awakened person is anyone who has experienced growth in their consciousness and mental clarity, and they've seen how their consciousness can move beyond an ordinary human consciousness at any level, to a state of non-ordinary human consciousness or super consciousness. So even the most simple awakened person has seen the vastness of what it means to be human. You see that there's more than just humanity and everything else. There's a whole other dimension of existence that can be expressed through our human capacities when we become consciously aware of it. But some people will say "Oh, that's just Buddhism. Whatever is just Buddhism, that's all there is." Well, Buddhism lives in many different traditions, and certain trees are planted in different ways. The tree of awakening can be planted in many different ways, but it's not just a tradition that we can think of as "Buddhism" or "Hinduism" or "Taoism" or any other tradition that we may have heard of.
Q: So it can be a spiritual path drawn into human consciousness through the same methodology?
A: Yes. Anytime you open your mind to see that there's more than just this material reality, then you're opening up your mind to see the realm of spirit and divinity as well. There's a whole other element of existence that can be realized, which is our own mental potential, and it takes an act of intelligence. It takes an act of conscious awareness to realize that there's more than what we are conscious of now.
