The following is an excerpt from "Jesus is Still Calling," a sermon by Pastor Sonny Solis from Journey Church Atlanta, delivered 10:30am Sunday, June 17th, 2011 at Journey Church in the Atlanta suburbs of Canton and Woodstock!

"This man saw one of Christ's disciples named Andrew, and he said to him: "We have both had the same teacher and have followed the same way of life. Why then, don't we uphold one another?" Andrew replied and said to him, "Let us go on walking." When they had walked for a little while further, Andrew said to Simon: "The teacher is calling whom he wants, and you are slow in finding it" (Matt. 9:9-10).

This man saw one of the disciples of Christ Jesus named Andrew. He saw that this disciple was following the same path as he was, who shared a common teacher and way of life with him. He was surprised however when he noticed that this disciple was not standing in unity but was turning away from the other disciples. Simon then asked him why this would be so and what had caused this to happen.

Conclusion:

It is not possible for brothers to walk together with their hearts united and their minds unified, unless they are encouraged by the same teacher. The truth is that many of God's true disciples do not have a unified heart. Instead they are divided because they simply don't know how to "walk in unity" or how to live as a body of Christ. They just don't understand what it means to truly follow Christ, and thus they seek unity in other less valuable ways (1 Cor. 1:10). They seek it from worldly things such as popularity and success, not from the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 6:33).
