Phone Sales not Ready to Yeild to the Internet
Phone sales not ready to yield to the internet
The phone sales industry has been booming for years, with new innovations coming out every year. However, with advances in technology and the rise of smartphones, have come more ways for people to buy goods without any human interaction. This has led many phone call centers across the world to shutter their doors or change what they sell.
In 2014 a company called Audio Junction filed for bankruptcy after being unable to keep up with online retailers who were able to offer better prices and easier returns. They had been making sales calls since 1971, which was the year that humans were allowed to make phone calls on the phone system. Phone sales is no longer the be all to end all as it once was, as we are seeing people shopping on their phones and purchasing goods without speaking to a human being.
It is no secret that companies such as Amazon have been able to make more revenue than ever before, and in response some of these companies are trying use technology to get customers over the phone better than ever. With advancements in internet calling technology allowing for this idea come true for many companies across different industries. When asked if they were worried about being replaced by an online store, most chose to say that they were not concerned.
The same article references a company called Addison Voice, who has been around since the early 80s. They have recently marked a milestone of over $1 billion in sales over the phone. This shows that even though companies are flocking to internet sales, there will always be a place for phone sales representatives because of the human interaction and compassion that most people would rather receive from a human than an automated program.
There are still many companies that are thriving in the phone sales industry and there is no sign that will change in the future.
