Cardio-Boxing for Super Fitness

The best time to start working out is now. However, sometimes people just don't have enough motivation to do so. Here are some ways you can use your spare time (free time!) in a fun way and boost your fitness levels without breaking a sweat - cardio-boxing!

A cardio boxing workout might not look like much at first glance but if you think about it this way, it becomes easy to see how these punches and jabs will help burn more calories and increase strength. Not only that, they are also a great ice breaker if you're trying to make new friends or get back into the swing of things when school has started again.

And what better way to help you on your way to a fit body than with some seriously fun cardio boxing workout?

Benefits of Cardio-Boxing Workouts

The benefits of cardio boxing workouts are obvious from the name itself. It helps you practice your boxing moves but also brings an element of fun, something that is lacking in many traditional workouts. If you're trying to lose weight, improve your stamina or strengthen your muscles then this is a great way to do it.

An added bonus is that you're also using different muscles in your body, which means that you're working out much more than just your arms and legs. This helps you lose weight faster and feel better about yourself too.

The best thing about all of this fun is that it doesn't cost you a pretty penny. Boxing gloves are small and won't take up much space, the same goes for a jump rope or even the shoes you can use - if you don't have any at home, ask around - someone might be able to lend you some. The same goes for a punching bag, which can be bought quite cheaply from any sports store or ordered online too.

A Look Inside a Cardio-Boxing Workout

Here are some examples of some cardio boxing workouts that you can do at home. These can also be a great way to start an action-packed day (or even something you do after school or work) to get your heart pumping and muscles working hard. If you haven't tried boxing before don't worry about it too much - it's not an art form like ballet, it's not something that you need to be doing with 'all the right methods'. However, once you've got the basics down, there are loads of different drills and exercises that you can practice without too much effort.

As always, remember to start off slowly and to be aware of any pain - if you feel anything click here for some advice or don't do it. Also focus on using correct form and not letting any of your body parts shake or move uncontrollably. This is a really good way of getting injured and doing yourself more harm than good in the long run.

One of the best ways to get yourself involved in cardio boxing workouts is to join a class. To find out where they are, ask around at your local gym or see if there's anything on offer at local community centers or yoga studios. Alternatively you could try searching online for 'cardio boxing classes' (or something similar) as this should bring up listings too.

Sample Cardio Boxing Workout

First, try punching the bag (or a pillow if you're not sure of your aim), remember to keep your stance wide and your arm raised high and straight. Punch twice and then quickly pull back for another two punches. Then repeat for eight or more minutes until you feel fatigued enough to take a break.

Next, you can try doing jump-rope exercises, which is much easier than it looks - just jump over the rope as fast as possible, trying not to hit your shins on it. Try different jumps: high knees, low knees and side jumps if you want extra variety. Then after going through all of those, go back to the first exercise and try using longer punches and jabs that make you lunge forward (again don't forget to keep your stance wide).

Lastly, it's always good to work on agility exercises too. These usually include running in place and wall sits. You can also add dips for a fantastic full-body workout, so get up and do those with a short break in between before going right back into the routine. You can do all of this at home (simple as that), so why not give it a try? If you need more ideas for workouts then click here.
