Increasing Persuasion With Humor
Humor is an effective way of persuading a person to take the course of action you want them to. Today, people are using humor more and more in their day-to-day activities, whether for work or for charitable causes. Using humor can be an easy way to keep your audience entertained, but it's also important not to use it too often as people will become easily annoyed. People love watching comedians make jokes about serious topics and seeing sitcoms with these humorous moments throughout the episode, so give your audience what they want!
About The Author:
I am a writer who is currently working with Marketing Pays Incorporated while studying at George Mason University. I have been writing for a few years, but I became interested in writing about marketing and advertising when I was living in France. This also sparked my interest in writing about all areas of persuasion.
Humor has not only been used for persuasive purposes but it's also been around since ancient times. Early humor combined the serious with the funny to entertain people, which is why many things that were funny back then are still funny today. Throughout history, writers have incorporated humor into their work, often to successfully persuade people to take the course of action they wanted them to take.
Humor can actually be used in many different ways to get people to take your course of action. For instance, in sales, humor is a great way to persuade customers to buy more than they are, as they will not want to offend the salesperson by not buying what he/she is selling. Speaking of which, salespeople are probably one of the most common users of humor, popularizing and using it effectively since the inception of businesses. Today's work environments also commonly use humor on a daily basis. People who work with coworkers might find themselves using it repeatedly due to the situations and situations that arise through the day.
Many businesses and companies use humor in their ads and commercials to persuade people to buy their product or service. In one commercial, a popular airline used humor to persuade people to buy their tickets by using humor that involved movie references. In another commercial, a popular fast food restaurant used puns, which are often associated with humor, in their advertisements to encourage people to eat their food. People are interested in watching these humorous advertisements due to the use of humor, as well as the drama that comes along with it.
Humor is a great way of attracting people's attention through different mediums today. Humor can be used effectively in speeches as well as writing assignments whether it is an informal report or a formal paper. Everyone loves to laugh and humor is an effective way of getting people to do so. Humor doesn't have to be vulgar or mean, but it can and it is used like this due to its effectiveness.
The most common kinds of humor are puns, satire, sarcasm, etc. that can be used in the workplace effectively because they show people the insides of the joke in order for them to understand it much easier. So here are some great examples of using humor in a persuasive manner:
Puns: These are often referred to as "pick up lines" and they usually have something related to business or selling as well as a funny element. A business that sells a certain product could make puns about it and use them in order to have people remember their company.
Sarcasm: Sarcasm is a type of humor that is popular with many different business people today. Sarcasm is when one says something that isn't true or asks a question that they don't really want an answer to but simply want to comment on the situation. One of the easiest ways to remember whether something is sarcastic or not, is to imagine yourself saying the words in their place. If you would find it funny when someone else said those words, then you used sarcasm well!
Satire: This type of humor has been around since the early days of literature. It involves something that is either fake or not intended to be true and the humor comes from the fact that it is fake. The famous Shakespeare character, Hamlet made his famous jokes due to his sarcasm, satire, and puns.
Humor can be used with any matter to persuade people to take a certain course of action. Whether you need to ask someone for a favor or sell them something, using humor can make it easier for people to see why you are asking for what you need or why they should buy what you are selling. Humor is a great way to make people realize what you have to offer and can be used effectively in many different forms.
After reading this, I hope that you can see how humor can be used effectively to persuade people to do what you need or want them to do. Humor has been around for a long time and will continue to be while it continues to make people laugh!

What Is A Color Q Test?
February 24, 2015 | Author: Brandon Sanders | Posted in Education
Everyone has their own preferences and it seems that everyone prefers something different. For example, some people prefer the color blue while others prefer the color red. Some people even have preferences on things like type of food or style of clothing or cars they like and so forth. Even within the same preference there are multiple variations. I know that when I see red, that doesn't mean that I like all red things and I don't necessarily mean all red things have to be the same color. There are lots of different kinds of reds.
Everyone has a subjective opinion on something and so it is difficult in some cases to arrive at a concrete definition for something such as color preference or anything else for that matter. For example, percentage of people who prefer certain food items or clothing materials in a certain material may be unknown. Percentages of people who prefer different shades of blue don't exist yet either and it may not be possible to know how many people prefer one particular shade or how many shades there are altogether.
Conclusion
Is It True? is a web based test that was developed to help people in determining how much they prefer things. The test consists of a series of questions or statements and gives results on how much you like that thing or whether you like it at all. It seems that this test will allow people to discover their own color preferences and what they think those preferences should be.
Color Q Test
The Color Q test was developed by the University of Texas at Arlington's Department of Psychological Sciences to help individuals understand what color preferences they have.
