10 Ways To Stimulate Employee Motivation
If you're a small or medium size business owner, you know how important it is to keep your employees motivated. If they don't feel motivated enough to work for your company, turnover rates go up and so does the cost of hiring and training new staff.
These ten strategies will help you keep your staff engaged with the company and on task with their tasks.
1) Provide healthy snacks for employees and rotate them occasionally so that there is an element of novelty about them. 2) Turn office conversations from formal to informal and encourage employees to be creative in their dress code. 3) Allow employees to be creative with their workspace and give them the freedom to change it as often as they want. 4) Set up a meeting once a week where everyone gets together to discuss company developments and status updates. Employees will feel more involved and part of the company if they are allowed to discuss such matters. 5) Make your employees feel as if they are part of a family by celebrating events such as birthdays, anniversaries etc. 6) Create a friendlier work environment so that if one employee is unhappy at work or has problems in their personal life, they know there will be someone they can depend on for support inside or outside the office. 7) Always be on the lookout for new and innovative jobs that your employees can do and give them the freedom to try out new ideas as far as they are interested. 8) Create a rewards program where employees get points towards a certain goal or something they achieve every month, either tied in with their performance or through friendly competition. This serves to keep them motivated and will make them feel that they are part of a team rather than working in isolation. 9) Give each employee their own personal laptop which will have programs on it that interest them so that they have no excuse not to do more work at home. You will also be able to see how much time they are spending on non-work related matters. 10) Create an environment where employees can communicate with each other easily and have fun while doing so.
Simple as that!
