  Wisdom and the Art of Problem-Solving


Successful people know that it’s not always the right answer that matters, but the ability to find solutions.

What is problem-solving? One definition of problem-solving in entrepreneurship is “the process of developing an action plan to achieve a specific goal”. These steps are often a cycle which involve identifying the problem, gathering information on possible courses of action, evaluating these courses based on criteria and constraints such as resources, time and cost considerations; selecting an appropriate course of action; creating an action plan for executing the course of action and monitoring progress towards achieving goals. Entrepreneurs need to plan, think critically, and coordinate and control resources—as well as manage time, energy and information.

Entrepreneurs need critical thinking skills to make decisions in uncertain situations. The ability to judge a situation accurately for what it is can help the entrepreneur decide quickly whether they should change course or stay the course. Problem-solving is a key part of decision-making.
